Cross Country Trip

Day 4

Day 4 consisted of exploring the beautiful city of Santa Fe. It was a nice day out as we woke up in our wonderful room at Las Palomas. We went over to the main part for our included breakfast which was a choice of fresh omelets made to your order, fresh waffles of different kinds and the normal cereal or yogurt.

After breakfast we made our way to the center of town. The Plaza is the place that most people suggest you visit. It was a very beautiful area with eclectic little shops including authentic Native American jewelry shops. One nice woman at an authentic shop cautioned us to beware of many of the fake shops around which was nice of her and suggested we return to the plaza after dark to see all the beautiful Christmas lights.

After a little shopping at the Plaza we continued to walk around the city taking in the extreme beauty of all the buildings and homes. On our walk we discovered a little up-hill walking area with a giant cross on the top of the hill. I can’t remember the name of this park off the top of my head but from the top you could see an incredible view of the entire city and the snow-capped mountains off in the distance.

The entire day really just consisted of walking around the city. We were in such a good location that you could really walk to everything without a problem. Plus it wasn’t too cold of a day out, around high 40’s and sunny so you warmed up pretty quickly.

At night we went to a quick dinner at Bumble Bee’s Baja Grill. It was quick service, ordering at the counter and they bring the food to you, and quite cheap and delicious as well. We did some research around the area restaurants and they were all so expensive but at Baja’s we got our meal for less than $20 and it was delicious and filling.

After dinner we went back to the Plaza as suggested and saw the stunning display of Christmas lights scattered around the center. It was definitely worth the venture out in the colder nighttime air.

We went back to our room afterwards and started a nice warm fire in the little fireplace that I mentioned before was in every room. It was a very nice end to a perfect day. Santa Fe is really a lovely historic city and one that I would definitely love to visit again one day.
